DISTRAUGHT relatives of a businessman who has been missing for more than a month today begged him to get in touch.

Jackson Reid, 42, vanished from Glasgow's South Side just days after separating from his long-term girlfriend.

He was last seen near his home in Pollokshaws Road, Shawlands, on June 26.

Today his step-father John Murray pleaded with him to contact his worried family.

Making an emotional appeal, Mr Murray said: "Jackson, we're missing you something terrible.

"Our lives have stopped the past few weeks and we need to know if you are ok.

"We understand you might not want to come home right now, but please let us know you are safe.

"We're not sleeping, we're just worry about you."

Police have launched a major search across Glasgow and the West of Scotland in a bid to trace the IT business owner.

Officers believe he may have travelled to the Dumbarton area - near where his step-father lives - the day after he was last seen.

However, there have been no sightings of him since and no CCTV footage to prove he travelled to that area.

Mr Reid is described as white, 6ft tall, with short dark brown hair.

When last seen, he was wearing a dark grey hooded fleece top and dark grey bottoms.

He was also carrying a grey rucksack with black panels and is believed to be in possession of camping equipment.

Mr Murray added: "His pals have been through the stuff he left behind and realised a tent, ground sheet and sleeping bag were missing.

"However, he didn't take any rods to use to put the tent up, so we're not even sure if he would use it.

"As time goes by, we are becoming more and more concerned.

"He would never go off for this long and not get in touch with someone."

Mr Reid's family said he enjoys the outdoors and is known to go hiking, running, kayaking and camping.

His sister, Gillian, said: "Although all of the family know how resourceful Jackson can be, we are becoming increasingly worried about him."

She also urged fellow campers to keep an eye out for her brother and report any sightings.

Chief Inspector Carol McGuire said: “Our inquiries to trace Jackson are continuing.

"But unfortunately we have been unable to trace him.

"We are aware that he has potentially intended to travel to a number of areas suitable for outdoor pursuits or camping in rural areas of Scotland.

"I am appealing for the help of the public and ask if you recognise Jackson from the picture, or think you may have seen him, please contact us as soon as possible."
