FOOTAGE of the bin lorry which ploughed into and killed six people three days before Christmas has been released.

This film, which was shown as part of a Fatal Accident Inquiry into the crash, shows the truck following the tragedy.

The video shows smashed glass inside the cab and internal and external damage cause by the impact.

The lorry was being driven by Harry Clarke who appeared to lose consciousness behind the wheel.

During 19 seconds of terror, the truck - which was travelling up Queen Street towards George Square - initially veered to the left.

It narrowly missed the Duke of Wellington Statue in Royal Exchange Square and collided with pedestrians before it mounted the pavement - accelerating at a speed of around 25 mph - hitting even more people, the FAI has heard.

The lorry also collided with cars, traffic lights and a taxi before finally coming to rest by crashing into the side of the Millennium Hotel.

Erin McQuade, 18, her grandparents Jack Sweeney, 68, and his 69-year-old wife Lorraine, all from Dumbarton, during the tragedy on December 22 last year.

Stephenie Tait, 29, and Jacqueline Morton, 51, both from Glasgow and Gillian Ewing, 52, from Edinburgh, were also killed.
