A MURDER bid probe is underway after a young man was attacked in Ayrshire.
The 23-year-old was found seriously injured in Bridge Street, Girvan at around 2.30am on Monday.
He was taken to Ayr Hospital and was later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Medical staff said he remains in a "serious" condition.
The attack is being treated as attempted murder.
Detective Inspector Alan Sommerville said: "We understand that there was a disturbance on Bridge Street in the early hours of Monday morning which has left a man seriously injured.
"Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour on Bridge Street at the time of the incident is asked to contact Ayr Police office."
