A MAN has been arrested in connection with an alleged murder bid in Greenock.
The 42-year-old is due to appear in court later today after the incident in Mount Pleasant Street on Sunday.
Police today confirmed he had been arrested and was currently detained in police custody.
Emergency services were called after a man, who is believed to be in his 50s, was found injured at around 5.25pm.
He remains in a critical condition in hospital.
The 42-year-old is expected to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court later today.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "A 42-year-old man has been arrested."
