A WORKER suffered horrific injuries to his arm after an accident in Glasgow city centre.
He was rushed to hospital after the incident in Jamaica Street, near to the corner Argyle Street, yesterday morning.
The construction worker is understood to have been delivering catering equipment when the accident happened.
His colleague ran to a nearby fast food outlet to raise the alarm.
A source told the Evening Times the man suffered “serious arm injuries” and will undergo surgery.
They said: “His arm was trapped by the falling equipment. He was taken to hospital and he’ll need surgery on the arm.”
Police were at the scene, shortly before 8am yesterday, after the man’s arm was pinned under “fallen equipment”.
A pick-up truck was parked outside a fast food restaurant, however, it was not known if it was linked to the accident.
It is understood the injured man was working alongside a fellow contractor.
Police confirmed they were called to a report of an “industrial accident”.
A Health and Safety Executive spokeswoman confirmed authorities are investigating the incident.
She said: “The Health and Safety Executive is aware and are making initial inquiries.”
