HARRY Clarke has refused to apologise to the family members of those killed in the bin lorry crash, for causing the deaths by telling lies.

Ronald Conway, who represents the family of crash victim Stephenie Tait, asked Mr Clarke to give them "a crumb of comfort" from their "pain and agony" by helping ensure that no other family has to go through what they have.

But Mr Clarke again refused to answer any specific questions about his medical or employment history.

Glasgow Times:

Mr Conway said he was giving him "one last chance".

He said: "I am going to ask you to to say sorry to the families of those who died that day.

"I don't mean sorry in the sense 'I'm sorry it's raining' and I don't mean 'I'm sorry it was an accident'.

"I am going to ask you to say 'I am sorry that I told lies in April 2010 and I know and accept that these lies led to the death of innocent people.

"Can you say that?"

"No I can't say that," replied Mr Clarke.

Glasgow Times:

Mr Conway added: "You will never get this chance again, Mr Clarke."

He replied: "I think I have already answered it."
