REMARKABLE Margaret Miller celebrated her 105th birthday with not one party but two.

She spent most of the day at the stroke club she founded 40 years ago where she was presented with a birthday cake.

And at night, she was the star guest at a gathering in Shettleston Old Parish Church.

Margaret said: "I very much enjoyed my day. I don't think I settled for five minutes.

"We went to the Harmony Street stroke club where we had a party and I got a birthday cake which we divided so all the members got a bit."

Margaret set up the club, the first of its kind in Scotland, more than 40 years ago and is still actively involved.

Asked what kept her going she said: "I get as much out of it as they do. They are more like a family than a club."

Two years ago, Margaret, from Springboig, was presented with her second British Empire Medal by Lord Provost Sadie Docherty.

She is a former winner of the Evening Times Scotswoman of the Year and one of our honoured Community Champions.

Margaret has given seven decades of service to the Royal Voluntary service since 1939.

When she received her second British Empire Medal she said: "I just don't think I deserve all this fuss. I don't think I have done anything special, really."
