FIREFIGHTERS removed a car roof to rescue a man trapped following a crash in Glasgow.

Emergency services raced to the scene in Butterbiggins Road, Govanhill at around 7.10pm on Monday.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof and create space for the man to be lifted clear.

Station Manager Lachlan McLellan, the incident commander, said: "The casualty was physically trapped and we devised an emergency extrication plan.

"Our crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to fully remove the car’s roof and this created the space we needed to safely lift him clear.

The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
