A MAPLIN Electronics worker from Glasgow has been shortlisted for the Area Manager of the Year award in the Retail Week Rising Star Awards.
John Gillespie, 31, will attend the award ceremony in Grosvenor House Hotel in London later this month.
John was area manager at Maplin for 18 months and was recently promoted to retail director.
Oliver Meakin, CEO at Maplin, said: “This is fantastic recognition for John, and one truly deserved. Over the past two years, John has played a pivotal role in delivering excellent customer service across all stores and ensuring our ‘Maplineers’ – our in-store tech experts – are ready to solve our customers’ tech problems.”
Speaking of his award, John said: “I was over the moon to be put forward for this award by Maplin, let alone be shortlisted, as the competition was really fierce. Since the nomination I’ve actually been promoted to retail director so it’s been a whirlwind few months but hugely exciting.”
