A RECORD number of NHS staff have been nominated for going the extra mile.
More than 200 people have been put forward for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s annual Chairman’s Awards which recognises staff who provided exceptional care for patients over the last 12 months.
The winners will be announced at a special awards night on Monday November 16.
NHSGGC chairman, Andrew Robertson, said: “This is the seventh year of the awards and I am delighted with the best ever response from patients, their relatives and healthcare professionals in identifying so many worthy nominees.
“These awards give the public and our staff the opportunity to shine a light on the best examples of care carried out across Greater Glasgow & Clyde.
“I find it very pleasing that patient centred care is the category with the largest number of nominations. This showcases the very best examples of staff pulling together to deliver care tailored to a patient’s individual requirements.
“It’s also heartening to see so many entries recognising the high standards of nursing. The recognition for staff efforts in the using resources better category is a welcome acknowledgement of our commitment to continuous improvement.
“Every year the nominations are of a very high standard and each year we have the hard job of narrowing each category down to just one winner. However, this is a wonderful challenge to have and I thank residents for showing such outstanding support for our dedicated staff.
