EXTRA carriages are being added to late night trains to get Foo Fighters fans back to Glasgow after the band's gig in Edinburgh.

The rescheduled concert will be held at Murrayfield on Tuesday next week and ScotRail is urging ticket holders to get back to Haymarket as fast as possible when the event finishes.

Jacqueline Taggart, ScotRail's customer experience director, said: "We have been liaising closely with DF Concerts and Murrayfield and have a robust train plan in place based on the anticipated finishing time.

"Our advice to those planning to go home by train is to please carefully check your train times on our website or app and be aware you will almost certainly need to queue at Haymarket after the gig. Please allow extra time and leave Murrayfield promptly."

ScotRail will have extra staff on the ground to assist fans.

Engineering improvements on the main line between Edinburgh and Glasgow mean longer journeys for people heading home.

From 9.30pm, trains leaving Edinburgh will be diverted via Falkirk Grahamston and will not call at Falkirk High, Cory, Lenzie or Bishopbriggs but buses will be available instead.
