Ex-Garbage Shirley Manson will return to the Scots stage this weekend in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

The Scots singer, who now lives in America, will perform with her band Angelfish at the Scottish Circles' fundraiser, Sowing Seeds, Growing Futures, in Glasgow on Saturday, September 12.

The event, which will be hosted by Muriel Gray, aims to raise £50,000 for women-centred projects in Rwanda and Nepal and is being held in partnership with the David Williamson Rwanda Foundation.

It will include a variety of unusual auction prizes, including handwritten lyrics by Annie Lennox, lunch with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and a pub-crawl with Ian Rankin. A Fiat 500 pop will also be given away in a raffle, with just 200 tickets up for grabs.

Manson said: "I am honoured to be performing at the Sowing Seeds event in Glasgow on Saturday night and am grateful to everyone for supporting The David Williamson Foundation.

"I have known Morag, David Williamson's widow for over 30 years. Through her I was lucky enough to meet David and I recognised what a remarkable person he was. He would be very proud of Morag for everything she continues to do for the women and coffee co-operatives in Rwanda in his name."

Farah Khushi, Scottish Circles founder, said: "This weekend's event is coming together to be something very special.  Not only do we have an exclusive performance from Shirley Manson, but there will also be a live auction on the night with fantastic money-can't-buy prizes, such as lunch with the first Minister of Scotland. I mean, wow!

"Women-centred projects are something that are very close to my heart, so I hope people come down to the event, dig deep and have a fantastic night for a truly special cause."
