EIGHT well-known eateries will be setting up shop at a new leisure complex.

Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito, Bella Italia, Homemade Burger, Filling Station, Nando’s, Cook&Indi and Pizza Express have all taken units at the East Kilbride development, due to open in September 2016.

Although still under construction, the addition of the eight new restaurants means 80% of retail spaces have now been taken.

New leases have been agreed for space ranging from 325sq m to 464sq m.

Fitness chain Pure Gym has also taken a 1057sq m unit at the site which opened earlier this year.

The new leisure quarter will be set over two levels, anchored by an Odeon cinema and an brand new ice rink.

The overall development will boost the already enormous east Kilbride Shopping centre, which is the country's largest covered shopping mall.

It spans across 1.4 million sq ft and attracts more than 15.5 million people every year.

Carlene Hughes, associate director in Savills leisure team, comments: “This new leisure quarter at East Kilbride has created excellent space for strong national brands to be able complement the retail offer at the centre. It is a testament to the strength of the scheme that it’s now 80% let and we expect to continue to receive significant interest for the remaining units.”
