A MAN and a woman have appeared in court along with a 17-year-old male in connection with the alleged seizure of £11,000 worth of drugs in Clydebank.

Helen and John Kearnan, aged 58 and 51 respectively, appeared in the dock at Dumbarton Sheriff Court yesterday along with a 17-year-old male who cannot be named for legal reasons.

They were committed for further examination after making no plea or declaration and were granted bail.

A 16-year-old male was the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Crown Office spokesman said he had been liberated from custody and did not appear in court. This case remains under consideration.

The arrests follow a police intelligence-led operation and searched an address under warrant in North Elgin Street in the Whitecrook area of the town on Thursday.

Amphetamine, cocaine and cannabis was allegedly recovered from the property.

Detective Sergeant Iain Gillies said: “We base many of our operations on intelligence received from the local community which is absolutely vital in helping us disrupt and deter offenders.

“If you have information about drug activity in your community please contact the police as we will listen to you and take action.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity will be maintained.”
