British Transport Police are hunting for a group of Celtic supporters who sang “offensive” songs on a train.

The fans were travelling between Glasgow and Stirling after the team’s 0-0 draw with Hearts at Celtic Park on Saturday.

The investigation began after passengers on the 6.41pm service from Glasgow Queen Street to Aberdeen complained to police.

Constable Jonathan Harvey, the British Transport Police officer in charge of the enquiry, said “A group of Celtic supporters chanted and sang illicit and offensive songs on a train travelling between Glasgow and Stirling following the team's SPFL match against Hearts on Saturday 26 September 2015.

“They were travelling on the 18.41 Glasgow Queen Street to Aberdeen service when other passengers complained to rail staff and BTP.”

Constable Harvey has asked anyone who was on the train and has information which can help identify those involved to call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016.

Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
