Drivers who use Sandbank Street in Glasgow could face three months of delays during a pipe replacement project.
Gas distribution network company SGN will dig up the street as part of a wider plan to upgrade the gas network in Maryhill.
SGN is investing £350,000 to replace 3km of metal gas mains with new plastic pipe.
The work is part of an ongoing mains replacement programme developed with the Health and Safety Executive.
Upgrade work in Sandbank Street will begin today at the junction with Aray Street.
Engineers will progress in sections, working towards the junction with Duncruin Street.
Temporary traffic lights will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm.
Some parking restrictions will also be in place.
SGN Team Manager Eric Taylor said: “We understand that roadworks can be frustrating and would like to thank everyone for their patience while we complete our essential upgrade work.
“We always aim to minimise disruption whenever possible however, I am sorry for any inconvenience which may be caused.
“The new plastic polyethylene pipe has a minimum lifespan of around 80 years and will ensure a safe and reliable gas supply for the local community for many years to come.”
SGN manages the network that distributes gas to 5.8 million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England.
