THERE may still 77 days to Christmas but the lights are going up in George Square.

And just to remind everyone who wants to see them switched on the ballot for tickets closes at midnight on Sunday and so far we have received around 50,000 applications for tickets (13,190 available).

Lord Provost of Glasgow, Councillor Sadie Docherty said: “We’re getting ready for Christmas and the lights are going up already in time for the switch-on event on November 15.

“We’ve already had an overwhelming response to our ballot for tickets for the event.

"The ballot closes at midnight on Sunday and I hope everyone who still plans to ask for tickets will make sure they only ask for the tickets they need to ensure as many people as possible can attend this wonderful event.

“It will be a magical occasion which marks the start of Glasgow Loves Christmas and the beginning of the countdown to the festive period for many families.”
