Police have appealed for witnesses after a 53-year-old woman was hit in the face with a can by a man on a train.
British Transport Police are appealing for information after the woman was assaulted on the train travelling between Edinburgh and Dalmeny in Fife on Saturday.
The woman, from Fife, had boarded the front carriage of the 21.48 Edinburgh Waverley to Perth service at Haymarket with her 28-year-old daughter.
Shortly before the train reached Dalmeny station the man assaulted her by hitting her with a can, police said
The assault caused an injury to her face, although she did not require hospital treatment.
The man is described as being aged in his mid-30s, about 5ft 8inches in height with brown hair and a beard.
He was wearing dark rimmed glasses and a brown jacket, and got off the train with another man.
