AN OUTDOOR clothing shop has been targeted in a bizarre mannequin theft.
A smashed window at the Nevis Sport shop on Sauchiehall Street was reported to police around 5am today by a passerby.
Goods, including a mannequin, are understood to have been snatched from the front of the shop, which is next to Nando’s restaurant.
Officers contacted staff who arrived around 8am, discovering a hole in the window big enough for a person to crawl through.
Employees will now carry out a stock take to determine the exact value of the stolen goods.
CCTV footage is also being reviewed in an attempt to find out what happened.
One passerby, who win the area around 8.45am, reported seeing the shop cordoned off with a police officer standing outside.
Broken class covered the pavement outside and police had the area cordoned off from early hours in the morning.
Shop workers were left to clear up the damage after officers left around 9.30am, sweeping up the glass from outside.
A member of staff who spoke to the Evening Times confirmed they would be reopening later today after the window had been boarded up.
A Police spokeswoman said: “Police received a report at 5am.
“Items were stolen and enquiries are continuing.
“It looks like they have taken to window display out but we can’t confirm how much has been stolen as [staff] will need to check the stock.
“It’s a housebreaking.
“It’s evident the window has been smashed and the mannequin has been taken out of the window but we don’t know yet the value of the items taken.”
