A DOG walker was nearly run over by the driver of a stolen car.

The burgundy Citroen Saxo was snatched near Parkside, Irvine, in the early hours of Sunday October 11.

Around 3.30pm that day a dog walker was nearly knocked over by the car, whose driver was spotted driving recklessly near Greenside and Birkshill.

It is thought there were four men in the car at the time.

Police are now appealing for information on the theft.

PC Dornan from Irvine Police Office said: "This sort of behaviour is dangerous and will not be tolerated.

"We are extremely lucky that somebody was not injured.

"There were believed to be 4 males within the vehicle at the time and we wish to speak to anyone who may have seen the vehicle since Sunday or who can identify any of the occupants."
