The family of a teenager who crashed his motorbike and suffered serious head injuries have said “all they have is hope” that he will recover.

Adam Scott, from Irvine, was riding along Shewalton Road on his white KSR motorcycle when he appeared to lose control whilst trying to negotiate a right-hand bend.

His family says they can only pray that the 17-year-old will pull through after the crash on Friday.

Speaking to our sister newspaper the Irvine Times, Adam’s dad Jim Scott said the whole family have been left devastated by his accident.
He said: “Everyone has been terribly affected by what has happened and we are just praying that Adam comes through this. All we have is hope.”
The teenager suffered a serious head injury and was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as critical.
He was moved to Glasgow’s Southern General over the weekend due to the severity of his condition.
Jim says he hopes that Adam’s accident will send a strong safety message to any teenagers thinking about buying or getting on a motorbike.
He said: “If someone sees what has happened to Adam and it makes them think twice about getting on a motorbike, then I hope that at least something positive can come from this.
“However, he is still very seriously ill and at this point we are not even able to talk about recovery yet.
“All we can do is hope and pray and keep a bedside vigil for Adam.”
Since the crash, messages of support have been flooding Adam’s Facebook page and dad Jim says the family are drawing great strength from that.
He said: “The support that Adam and our family has received has been tremendous.
"Everyone is praying for him to make a full recovery.
"The messages of support on Adam’s Facebook page have been amazing and prove what a popular boy he is.”
