One Direction scooped two big wins at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards.

The foursome were named Best British Group and also took home the coveted Best British Single award for their song Drag Me Down.

Canadian superstar Justin Bieber also made a surprise appearance, performing his hits What Do You Mean?, Where Are U Now and Believe, at the event held at the SSE Wembley Arena.

Other winners included singer Ed Sheeran who was named Best British Solo Artist, Joe Sugg won Best British Vlogger and The X Factor won Best British TV show.

The winners were voted for by Radio 1 listeners and the ceremony was hosted by Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw and co-hosts Demi Lovato, Rita Ora, The Vamps and Troye Sivan.

The ceremony also celebrated the achievements of three inspirational Teen Heroes who were 14 year-old Alice, a carer from Gloucestershire, 14-year-old Rosie, a fundraiser with a highly malignant primary brain tumour from Coventry and 16-year-old Aaren from Bristol who was born with gender dysphoria.

Other stars at the show were Little Mix, Nick Jonas, 5 Seconds of Summer, Olly Murs, Keith Lemon and Idris Elba.

Radio 1's Greg James took to the stage to collect one of One Direction's awards and announced that the foursome would be doing a Live Lounge special on November 12 on Radio 1.
