IT WAS smiles all round as Tommy Sheridan added another academic trophy to his repertoire.

The former politician celebrated with his wife, Gail, and mother, Alice, as he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Strathclyde.

Sheridan, the former Scottish Socialist Party leader and once a two-term Glasgow MSP, already has an undergraduate degree in Politics and Economics, as well as a Masters in Social Research.

He now plans to complete his Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. The 51-year-old said: “My aim remains the same, to change the world.”

Sheridan made the news recently after it was revealed he was considering rebranding his Solidarity party as "Hope Over Fear" in the forthcoming Holyrood election.
