DETECTIVES searching for a missing Glasgow man have uncovered no evidence of criminality, insiders have revealed.

Mystery surrounds the case of devoted dad John Murphy, from Dennistoun, who disappeared six months ago.

As reported in last night's Evening Times, his family believe he is still alive and now police insiders have revealed that "foul play has been ruled out".

Today marks six months since father-of-five John, from Dennistoun, vanished on his way to work and his disappearance remains a mystery.

Despite extensive searches, no trace has been found of the 52-year-old.

His anguished son, also John, told the Evening Times how the pain of not knowing where his father is never gets easier.

The 25-year-old said: "Opinion is still mixed, some people believe my dad is alive and others don't.

"We believe he is out there somewhere."

John left his home in Craigpark Drive around 7am on May 12 and headed towards Duke Street to catch a bus to work.

He did not arrive at his workplace and was reported missing by his family that evening.

John's family have plastered Glasgow with more than 25,000 posters in a bid to find their missing dad.

The poster campaign, organised by family and friends, has seen information displayed on public transport, bus stops, lamp posts and shop windows across the city.

A dedicated Facebook page has also been set up by John's family, which has more than 23,000 followers.

When he left home on May 12, John is believed to have been wearing a beige T-shirt, embroidered with Easthall Park's logo, a black jacket, black cargo trousers and black boots.

CCTV images showed him going in to a local shop in Duke Street at about 7am on May 12.

A few minutes later he emerged with a paper and appeared to be heading to get the bus to work.

As previously reported by the Evening Times, John hit out at claims his dad had "done a runner" and abandoned his family.

Police have probed several potential sightings of John, including at Cathkin Braes, Argyll Arcade, Anniesland and Braehead Shopping Centre.

However, no sightings have ever been confirmed.
