NEW flights are to take off from Glasgow to southern Spain - with the city's airport securing its 20th new route for 2016.
The weekly flights to Almeria will be operated by Thomas Cook and leave every Wednesday.
Flights to the southeast Spanish city are not available at any other Scottish airport.
The new route will launch on May 25 next year.
The travel operator says it is expected to prove popular with Scottish leisure travellers including families looking to discover Spain’s Andalusia region.
Almería dates back to the 10th century.
Glasgow airport's commercial director Francois Bourienne said: “The introduction of Thomas Cook Airlines direct flights to Almeria next summer not only demonstrates its commitment to Glasgow Airport, it highlights the demand for these popular sunshine destinations.
“We are looking forward to working with Thomas Cook Airlines to develop these services and to further grow the airline’s presence at Glasgow.”
Thomas Cook Airlines flies from Glasgow to 37 destinations, including Almeria, Barbados, Cancun, Cuba, Las Vegas and Orlando.
