THESE helpless puppies were dumped and left to die in a Glasgow park.

Animal rescue officers said the crossbreed litter - who are around a week old - were left shivering in a box during cold weather.

A member of the public found the pups in Royston Park late on Thursday night and handed them in to a local vets.

The puppies were later taken to the SSPCA’s animal rescue and rehoming centre in Lanarkshire.

However, one of the pups tragically passed away.

Animal rescue officer Amy Robb said: "The puppies are around a week old and don’t yet have their eyes open.

"They were found around 10pm on a cold night and they were shivering.

"These puppies are far too young to be away from their mum and we are concerned for her welfare.

"She will be extremely distressed at having her puppies taken away from her so soon.

"This was a very cruel act and we would urge anyone who knows who may have dumped these helpless animals to contact our helpline."

Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006.
