POLICE are closing in on a sex beast who lured a young model with a bogus modelling shoot.

The 20-year-old woman is understood to have arranged to meet a man she believed to be a photographer at a rendezvous point in Glasgow's West End.

As reported in late editions of yesterday's Evening Times, sources said the pair are believed to have met online.

They arranged to meet near Kelvingrove Art Gallery for a 'modelling session' yesterday.

However, the vicious attacker battered the young woman before sexually assaulting in a lane her near to Kelvin Way.

It happened at around 8pm yesterday and police have urged any witnesses to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said officers were following a "positive line of inquiry".

She added: "Police inquiries are continuing after a 20-year-old woman was sexually assaulted at the rear of Kelvingrove Art Gallery around 8pm on Monday November 23.

"Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact officers on 101."

The sex attacker is thought to have convinced the victim into a secluded spot, where he carried out the assault.

However, the area is popular with dog walkers and joggers and police are hopeful someone may have witnessed the incident.

A large cordon was in place around the wooded area yesterday and uniformed officers stood guard at the lane.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
