A KNIFE-WIELDING thug who stabbed a man in the face is being hunted by police.
The 28-year-old victim was walking in Irvine at around 12.30pm on Monday, when he was attacked by a man with a knife.
It happened in Dickson Drive, near to the Coach and Horses pub.
Police said the victim was taken to the Crosshouse Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment for a "facial stab wound".
The suspect is, white, slim to medium build and was wearing all dark clothing.
Detective Constable Gavin McKellar said: "We are carrying out extensive inquiries, including door-to-door, and checking all available CCTV in order to trace the man responsible for this vicious attack.
"I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident or who has any knowledge about the suspect or the incident to contact officers as a matter of urgency."
