Dogs Trust Glasgow has named a litter of eight adorable puppies after some of the nation’s best-loved Scottish exports in the hope that it will help them to bag a new home this St Andrew's Day.

The three-week-old Staffie cross dogs, three boys and five girls, named Haggis, Whisky, Thistle, Tartan, Oatcake, Irn Bru, Heather and Shortbread, were born at the rehoming centre in Uddingston earlier this month and are currently being cared for by staff until they are ready to find owners in a few weeks.

Sandra Lawton, from Dogs Trust Glasgow, said: “Our bonnie Scottish pups are such cuties and have already developed their own wee characters.

"Like all puppies, they love to play and are always eager to have plenty of fun with everyone at the rehoming centre.

"As they are only tiny, they still need round-the-clock care so it will be a few weeks yet before they can embark on the journey to their forever homes, but they will soon be looking for new owners who can take on the challenge of a new puppy and understand that a dog is a lifetime commitment.

“The puppies will need lots of socialisation with other dogs in their early years and plenty of fuss and attention to help them settle in to their new homes. Whilst they may not be saints at first, they will soon get the hang of their manners and will make wonderful additions to any family”
