STAFF at a Glasgow hotel which was given an X-rated name change on Facebook have confirmed the culprit was a former employee.

As reported by the Evening Times, the Lorne Hotel on Sauchiehall Street was renamed the C*** Hotel on the social media page.

It is understood to have happened early this morning.

Staff originally said they would be forced to delete the page as it was impossible to change the name back due to Facebook rules.

However, Thom Murphy, General Manager at the venue has now confirmed it will be renamed "as quickly as possible" and added a former staff member was to blame.

Thom said: "I would just like to clarify that we will be able to have this removed, however this will have to go through a process with Facebook.

"The matter has arisen due to a disgruntled ex-member of staff who managed to gain access at some point over the weekend.

"We do of course see the lighter side of our Facebook page being hijacked, however we’re trying hard to have the offensive word removed as soon as possible."
