Concern is growing for an 83 year-old man who has been missing from his home since the weekend.

Matthew Bowie, from Bishopbriggs, was last seen by a neighbour outside his home in the Gleneagles Gardens area on the morning of Sunday, 24 January.

Described as active and fairly fit, Matthew is around 5 ft. 8 inches, with a slim build and white/grey receding hair. He is normally clean shaven.

Although it is not known what he was wearing at the time of the last sighting, the pensioner normally wears dark trousers, a shirt and a jumper.

During the search so far, officers have been checking areas where Mr Bowie tends to travel to, such as the canal path towards Cadder Road in Bishopbriggs, the café at Lambhill Stables and Cadder Church Hall in Kirkintilloch Road, Bishopbriggs.

Inspector Gerry Corrigan appealed for members of the public to assist with the search, saying: “Given the recent bad weather over the past few days, we do have concerns for Mr Bowie’s well-being.

I would ask members of the public to check their sheds, huts or any other outhouse buildings as Mr Bowie may have taken shelter within.

"His family is understandably very concerned and just want him home safe and well. If anyone has seen Mr Bowie or has any information as to his whereabouts, please contact police immediately.”

Anyone who does have any information can contact officers at Kirkintilloch Police Office on 101.
