AN EAST Kilbride company boss is swapping his high-viz for high glamour in aid of the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.

Alan Bryant, the sales director of Multivista, which visually documents building projects, is stepping out in aid of the Glasgow charity's Brick by Brick Appeal to build a new hospice in Bellahouston Park.

Alan and his professional partner Maria Oakes will be competing with five other partnerships from the world of business in (A Little Less) Strictly Come Dancing at Glasgow Hilton on March 5.

Gleb Savchenko, one of the professional dancers from the hit BBC TV series, is the special guest and Carol Smillie and Bryan Burnett are the hosts.

Alan said: “I’ve been working with the hospice for many years and wanted to help them raise funds for the brand new building.

“It is one of my favourite fundraising nights because it is such good fun. It’s a real star-studded ball.

“I’m not saying I’m a dancer by any means, but I thought - this will take me out of my comfort zone.”

This is the seventh year of the ballroom dancing event, which raises around £60,000 annually.

The hospice is moving to a new purpose-built site in Bellahouston Park, gifted by Glasgow City Council.

Alan, who co-founded the first UK franchise of Multivista, which provides construction photography, webcams and video documentation, has gifted the hospice a webcam to capture the building process.

“We thought it would be great for the hospice to have a complete record, a time lapse from start to finish, to show people the build,” Alan said.

Renfrew-based professional dancer Maria Oakes, a previous (A Little Less) Strictly Come Dancing winner, is organising the couple's routine.

“We are having such a laugh practising the routines,” said Alan. “We’re doing the samba to a Michael Bublé track. There are a few lifts and a few acrobatics, it’s a great routine.”

Participants are also judged on their fundraising efforts and Alan has organised a Strictly poker night in his local tennis club and his wife Fiona has planned a Cava and Cakes afternoon to boost the total.
