Frankie Boyle pays tribute to Sir Terry Wogan - and Twitter is offended

The controversial comic said in an ironic tweet, "Remember, If I don't comment on a celebrity death, it's because I don't care."

But many Twitter users didn't quite get what he was saying - Boyle was commenting because he did care - and hit out:

Boyle later acknowledge the fact some Twitter users did not get his joke by tweeting:

It was announced yesterday that the veteran BBC broadcaster died after a short illness.

His family said in a statement: "Sir Terry Wogan died today after a short but brave battle with cancer.

"He passed away surrounded by his family. While we understand he will be missed by many, the family ask that their privacy is respected at this time."
