Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle has paid his own tribute to Sir Terry Wogan who died at the age of 77 - and Twitter users have hit back.  

The controversial comic said in an ironic tweet, "Remember, If I don't comment on a celebrity death, it's because I don't care."

But many Twitter users didn't quite get what he was saying - Boyle was commenting because he did care - and hit out:

It was announced yesterday that the veteran BBC broadcaster died after a short illness.

His family said in a statement: "Sir Terry Wogan died today after a short but brave battle with cancer.

"He passed away surrounded by his family. While we understand he will be missed by many, the family ask that their privacy is respected at this time."
