A 15-year-old boy has disappeared after leaving his Ayrshire home.

Kieran Welsh (15), from Kilbirnie, was last seen on Tuesday, February 2.

Police investigating his disappearance say he took several trains in the central belt.

Inspector Colin Convery, Irvine Police Office, said: “Although Kieran has been missing before, he has never stayed away for this length of time, indeed he has never even stayed away overnight.

“We know from our enquiries that he took several trains from Ayrshire before arriving at Glasgow Central Station around 1620 hours on Tuesday afternoon. The last sighting of him was yesterday afternoon, Thursday, February 4 in the Drylaw area of Edinburgh.

“We do not know if he arranged to meet anyone or where he planned to go from there and as there have been no further sightings of him, there is mounting concern for his safety and well-being.

“Officers have been speaking to his friends and family as well as checking areas he tends to go to or where he has friends, that includes addresses in Ayr, Lanarkshire, Paisley and Edinburgh, as well as Glasgow.

“As we said, he’s only 15 and hasn’t been out of touch with friends or family for this length of time before so I would appeal to anyone who knows him, knows where he is, or who has any information that will help us trace him, contact Irvine Police Office via 101.

“I’d also ask Kieran himself to get in touch.”

He is described as 5ft5 in height, of medium build, has short red hair which is shaved at the sides, blue eyes and a fair complexion.

He was wearing fitted navy ‘Ellesse’ tracksuit trousers with white writing and the orange ‘Ellesse’ symbol down both legs, a grey Adidas top with lime green stripes down sides and a grey hood with lime green lining, and a navy blue Northface hooded jumper.
