HIGH school students are gearing up for their fashion finale tonight as they prepare for the Junk Kouture final.

Students from schools across Glasgow have been preparing for months for the contest, creating glamorous gowns from materials that would normally be thrown away.

Trudi Logan, from St Mungo's Academy is joining her two other classmates - Abi Marshall and Emma Alan in the finals tonight, held at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow.

Their teacher Siobhan McDonagh said she is "very proud" of her students and the amount of work they have put in to the contest.

She said: "We're really hoping to win but I'm so proud of the girls anyway if we don't.

"They've done so well and they're so excited to be part of the experience and be in the concert hall.

"They're all in first year, they're competing against kids from all secondary levels. It's a huge achievement for them and they're only 12."

Trudi's dress has been made from disused Burger King packaging, which she worked on for a painstaking 60 hours ahead of tonight's event.

Her classmates Emma and Abi have made a joint creation, using recycled party materials including tablecloths and decorations.

Junk Kouture is a national contest. encouraging young designers in secondary schools to create wearable art from everyday junk that would normally find its way into the bin.
