A RESTAURANT worker was arrested after his colleague was allegedly attacked with a hot pan in a row about chopping mushrooms.

The 19-year-old was allegedly scalded with the frying pan during the disturbance which broke out in the kitchen of a Glasgow curry house.

Police and emergency services were called to Cafe India in the Merchant City area at around 1pm.

Sources said an argument had broken out among the staff at Cafe India in Albion Street, about who was going to chop up mushrooms in the kitchen.

It is claimed that the teenager and an older man were involved in a disturbance which then led to a serious assault.

It is believed the trouble only ended when police arrived at the popular restaurant on Sunday afternoon.

Police confirmed a 42-year-old was later arrested in connection with an alleged serious assault.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 1pm on Sunday January 31, police were called to reports of a disturbance at a premises in Albion Street, Glasgow.

“A 42-year-old man was arrested in connection with alleged serious assault on a 19-year-old male.”

The man is due to appear in court at a later date and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
