Cheeky boxing fans nicked US champion Floyd Mayweather Jr's parking space during his first visit to Glasgow on Friday.

The Scottish Sun reports that Mayweather was visiting Scotland for the first time to appear at a question and answer session at the city's Crowne Plaza Hotel which was organised by boxing promoters MGM Scotland.

But a spot reserved at the hotel for the boxer and his entourage kept being used by guests attending the event.

A source told The Scottish Sun said: “The organisers were trying their best to get the area cleared, running around asking folk inside if they’d parked there.

“Every time they thought they had sorted it, someone else moved into the space.”

Former boxer and Sky Boxing presenter Johnny Nelson hosted the event and VIP tickets cost up to £450 a head.

Sam Kynoch, boss of organisers MGM Scotland, said: “Floyd was brilliant. Even though he was late he went on past the scheduled time and gave up more of his time.”
