A SEARCH is underway for a missing vulnerable woman who disappeared from Paisley.

Police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of Avril Vint, 44, who was last seen by a friend outside the Iceland shop in Glasgow Road, Paisley.

She was spotted at around 6.30pm on Saturday.

Ms Vint is described as white, with a slim build. She has black hair and is around 5 ft tall. When she was last seen she was wearing a long bubble style coat and wellington style boots.

Sergeant Mark Rasdale, from Paisley police office, is appealing for information:

He said: “From the inquiries we have undertaken so far, we understand that Avril has been going through a difficult period in her life. The last confirmed sighting we have of Avril is on Glasgow Road at around 1830 hours on Saturday.

“At around 2340 hours on Saturday we received a report of a woman matching her description on Mill Street close to the River Cart.

“Our focus is to trace Avril safe and well. Officers are currently searching for Avril across Paisley, analysing CCTV and carrying out door to door enquiries in the area.

“At this time we seek assistance from the public in tracing Avril safe and well."
