Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace in connection with a serious assault.
A 27-year-old man suffered serious head injuries during an attack at the top of the Waverley Steps on Princes Street in Edinburgh city centre at 10pm on Thursday, December 10.
Police said they believe the man pictured in the CCTV images may be able to assist them with their enquiries.
Detective Constable Andy Cory from Gayfield CID said: “The man pictured is believed to be of significance to our investigation and anyone who can assist in tracing him is asked to come forward.
“Similarly we would ask the man to come forward himself and help with our investigation.”
Anyone who recognises the man should contact police immediately on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
