HER long hair was her pride and joy... but kind-hearted Layla Tamnat has gone for the chop to help sick children.

Layla, who works in Yorkhill Children's Charity's fundraising team, has been impressed by the strength and courage of the youngsters in Glasgow's sick kids hospital.

She has had long hair since primary school - but felt it was time to do something dramatic to help the hospital.

Layla said: “I wanted to fundraise for Yorkhill Children’s Charity because every day I’m inspired by how brave the boys and girls at the hospital are.

"I thought that a big chop would be a great way to raise lots of money since everyone knows how much I love my long hair which I’ve had for years.

"It seemed silly letting my hair go to waste after the chop, so I’m really happy that the Little Princess Trust will be able to use it to help make a really difficult experience for children that wee bit easier.”

Layla's hair was chopped with the help of the hospital's Clown Doctors.

And her efforts raised more than £1600 for the charity while her hair is going to he Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair.
