A BROKEN down train is causing disruption at a city travel hub.

The faulty vehicle at Queen Street has affected services from the high level.

Rail firm Scotrail has advised passengers that services to and from the station could be cancelled, delayed or revised until at least 11am today.

Scotrail issued an apology to customers on their website and social media, advising passengers delayed by more than 30 minutes to make a compensation claim.

A spokeswoman for ScotRail said: “As a result of a broken down train at around 09:15 this morning, services to and from Glasgow Queen Street High Level were subject to delay.

“The train was on the move by around 09:40, however there was a knock-on delay to some services.

“We would like to apologise to customers affected by this incident.

"Passengers delayed by 30 minutes or longer can claim a refund as part of our Delay Repay guarantee at www.scotrail.co.uk/delay-repay"

Meanwhile, services from Edinburgh to Milngavie and Airdrie are also disrupted due to a signalling fault further down the line.

The problem at Bathgate happened around 7am and affected a number of trains running through the area, including services to Helensburgh Central and Milngavie via Airdrie.

Engineers were working to fix the problem before 10am today and Scotrail said trains could be affected until around 10.30am.
