A HAIRDRESSERS was robbed earlier today by a man wearing a mask and armed with a knife.
The man entered Urban Chic Hair and Beauty salon in MacNeish Way, in East Kilbride, shortly before 1pm. He produced a knife and demanded money.
The man left the hairdressers with a sum of cash and ran off in the direction of Arrotshole Road.
The salon owner and two members of staff were not injured.
The man is described as around 5ft10, between 25 and 35 years old, slim, with short blond or light brown hair. He was wearing a khaki parka jacket, dark jeans and carrying a beige bag.
Detective Constable Ross Philip from Cambuslang CID said: “Luckily nobody was hurt during this incident but it was nevertheless a terrifying experience for the people involved.
“Officers are conducting door to door enquiries and examining CCTV in a bid to trace the person responsible and we will have additional patrols in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.
“Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact police via 101."
