Commuters in Glasgow have been warned of possible disruptions to travel throughout the morning.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning after sleet and ice were forecasted for major areas of the East Coast and Central Belt from midnight onwards.

In the warning, the Met Office said: "The public should be aware of difficult travelling conditions and the risk of some transport disruptions due to both snow and icy surfaces.

"There remains some uncertainty in the details and this warning will be updated as required."

Forecasters warned that travel could be disrupted in large areas of the country as a result of the adverse conditions.

This latest extreme weather warning comes in the wake of Storm Henry, which battered areas in the North of Scotland earlier this month.
