Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of newly laid turf from a number of graves.

The theft occurred at Camelon cemetery in Dorrator Road, Falkirk.

The most recent of these thefts occurred between around 4pm on Thursday 11th February and 11am on Friday 12th February after maintenance workers had laid the turf on ten graves in the older part of the cemetery.

Police Inspector Derek Easton of Falkirk Police Station said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously around the time of this theft.

“Although the turf was only worth around £40, we are treating it as a serious matter given the location of the crime and the lack of respect shown for those buried in the cemetery.”

Anyone with information can contact Police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers in complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
