POLICE are searching for a mystery man who parachuted down into Glasgow city centre - and then vanished.

The skydiver was spotted by a passing motorist and is believed to have landed in North Hanover Street, near to its junction with Dobbies Loan.

Cops received the bizarre report at around 12.30am today.

Sources said officers are investigating whether the man leaped from a building or a plane.

CCTV footage has been pulled from cameras in the area and will be reviewed as part of the probe.

A Police Scotland spokesman an investigation has been launched and anyone with information is asked to contact officers.

He said: "Police received a report of a parachute landing in North Hanover Street, Glasgow, at around 12.30am on February 18.

"Inquiries are ongoing."
