Police searching for a missing 14-year-old girl have recovered a body from a shoreline.
Jasmine Macquaker, from Edinburgh, was last seen at Dalmeny railway station by South Queensferry at around 8.30pm on Sunday.
A body has been recovered from a stretch of coastline in North Queensferry after a member of public alerted police at around 7am on Monday.
The death is being treated as unexplained.
A police statement said: "A formal identification is yet to be carried out; however, Jasmine's family have been informed and have requested that their privacy be respected at this very difficult time."
The discovery followed an urgent appeal by police who believe the teenager travelled from Edinburgh's Waverley station on a service bound for Dalmeny at around 8.15pm.
They said it was out of character for the 14-year-old to go off on her own without telling anyone.
