COPS are hunting two would-be robbers who targeted a jewellers just 700 yards from a police station.

Police raced to the store - which specialises in designer watches worth more than £25,000 - after the strike took place minutes from the divisional hub.

Two crooks targeted the Ernest Jones branch at Silverburn Shopping Centre at around 3.20am on Saturday.

Cops from nearby Pollok Police Station were deployed but the duo had already fled empty handed.

Detectives are now studying CCTV in a bid to find out more about the incident and identify the two suspects.

Witnesses have also been asked to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Officers received a report of an attempted commercial housebreaking at Silverburn Shopping Centre, Glasgow, at around 3.20am on Saturday February 20.

"Inquiries are continuing."
