An animal charity has made an appeal to find the owner of a dog who has been found in Lanarkshire with a European microchip.
The Scottish SPCA was alerted after the male Staffordshire bull terrier cross was discovered at Main Street in Holytown on Thursday, February 18.
The brindle and white dog is now in the care of the Scottish SPCA's animal rescue and rehoming centre in Hamilton.
Centre manager Peter Fleming said: "This dog has a foreign microchip but unfortunately it has not been registered in the UK.
"We know which country the microchipped was registered in but we would like to keep this information confidential to assist with identification should an owner come forward.
"This goes to show the importance of owners remembering to update microchip details if they move address or their contact details change.
"We think it's likely the owner has moved to Scotland with their dog and we hope they will get in touch. If no one comes forward we'll find him a loving new home."
