Residents in Scotland's three biggest cities feel the safest in the UK, according to a survey.
Worldwide research by investment firm Mercer shows Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow ranked at number 44 in the world for personal safety - ten places ahead of the nearest other UK city, Birmingham.
The survey also ranked Edinburgh at number 46 in the world for overall quality of life, with Glasgow at number 55 and Aberdeen placed at 59.
Mercer said Luxembourg residents feel the safest in the world, while Baghdad and Damascus are the world's least safe cities.
Vienna holds the top spot for quality of life and Baghdad again takes last place in this category according to the ranking
Ellyn Karetnick, head of Mercer's International Mobility Practice in the UK, said: "Quality of living standards remain high across UK and European cities, making them attractive destinations for multinational businesses and their employees.
"In Europe and beyond terrorist attacks and incidences of civil unrest are closely monitored and analysed, and any impact on quality of living for expatriates is reflected in the rankings."
London is ranked at number 39 for quality of living but reached just 72 in the personal safety ranking.
