Police are appealing for witnesses following a domestic assault in a car in West Lothian.

The incident happened in the Stankards Road area of Uphall, at the junction with Maclardy Court, between 12pm and 12.30pm on Tuesday.

The male suspect was in the passenger seat of the car and assaulted the female driver.

Their vehicle is described as a red Ford Ka with black racing stripes around the middle of it.

Officers believe two people may have witnessed the assault, and are appealing to them to come forward.

The first witness is as a white woman, in her 50s, who is around 5ft 7in in height, of medium build with blonde/greyish shoulder length hair.

The second witness is described as a white man who is thought to be 15 or 16 years old.

He is 5ft 7in in height, of skinny build with short dark brown hair.

He was walking a small white dog.

Detective Constable Allan Herbert, of Livingston Police Station, said: "We're appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident.

"The red Ford Ka is very distinctive, and it's possible they may have heard a woman screaming from within the car."
